JENNIFER CHIVERS PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLING

Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor

INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLINGTaking the first step to approaching therapy can be really difficult. Finding help might have been on your mind for a while or perhaps suddenly something has stopped working and you are looking for a way to explore your current, past or future situations. Whatever has brought you here, I want to encourage you that you are making a healthy decision for yourself. I work in an integrative way which means that I use a variety of theoretical approaches to suit my clients. Usually this involves talking therapy but depending on your personal interests we can incorporate more creative approaches if this might help you to explore more freely. Expressing oneself verbally is not easy for everybody. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can provide a healing and explorative experience for a client as they can examine how they are in a safe space with another. I work with a broad range of issues such as depression, anxiety, self esteem, disordered eating, grief and loss, trauma, suicidal thoughts and ideation, relationships, anger, sexual abuse, sleep, addiction, parenting, trauma and self harm.I adhere to the UKCP and BACP ethical framework, meaning that I value each of my clients as a unique person, taking in to account diversity, equality and inclusion and protecting their confidentiality and privacy. I am an Accredited Member of UKCP and a Registered Member of BACP governing bodies.

THERAPY AND COUNSELLING SERVICES

Individual Therapy

I provide one to one talking therapy and counselling in and around Windsor, Berkshire. Sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually held once a week at the same time. I offer an initial meeting where we can have an open discussion about your needs and I can answer any questions that you might have. If we would like to continue to work together then we will organise a regular time to meet and decide on the right therapeutic plan for you.

I can also sessions over Zoom to cater to those who travel and need to be flexible, without missing their sessions.

Supervision (for practitioner)

I have recently completed the training portion of the Diploma in Supervision at the Gestalt Centre and am accruing hours with supervisees as I work towards the full qualification for UKCP supervisor accreditation. I am offering sessions at a discounted rate during this time. I have a particular interest, training and experience with eating disorders and trauma and like to work collaboratively and creatively where appropriate.

My focus in my client work and with supervisees is on the relationship, I feel it can provide a real time 'petri dish' of insight in to one's inner world and how someone may be presenting outside of therapy. I take a curious and compassionate approach to what arises in supervision so we can explore and experiment together, in the hope you will feel able to bring the things that may feel awkward, difficult or taboo to talk about. I also believe supervision should allow space for some personal issues when they arise in the professional work, and whilst it is not therapy, supervision needs to support you as our work asks us to bring so much of ourselves and this can be challenging.

I adhere to the BACP and UKCP ethical framework and would like to support you in reflecting on your practice, developing new skills and integrating theory in to practice. I work with qualified psychotherapists and counsellors, along with trainees where suitable for your governing or training body.

PRICING

50 min Session: £65

Therapy works best when attended regularly, however if you do need to cancel an appointment, please let me know within 48 hours of your session to avoid the full fee charge for a missed appointment.

I am passionate about making therapy more accessible to those who cannot afford it, particularly in a time where low cost mental health services are so stretched. If you would be interested in sponsoring a space each week for someone to attend therapy, feel free to contact me to discuss this further.

As well as my private practice, I currently work as a student counsellor at a University in Surrey and elsewhere work with Youth and Adults in an open-ended framework for a charity. In other work previous to my training I have had experience with primary aged children and babies, young people with complex needs and worked closely with more senior adults. I have a degree in Fine Art and am passionate about involving creative practice in therapy. If this is something that interests you then we can integrate that in to your personal therapy.
